CoHub is an entirely volunteer-led initiative that launched on Feb 6 2023 in response to the 7.8 earthquake that devastated southern Turkiye and Syria. This initiative is led by White Helmets co-founder Nedal Izdden who became a refugee in Canada In 2019 after the regime began targeting the White Helmets team for their humanitarian work in areas outside of regime control. This Initiative is supported by BC-based nonprofits Thaumazo, PeaceGeeks founder Renee Black and Colorado-based ConversaCorps.
Our goal is to provide financial and material support to locally-based civilian emergency responders in the region who are supporting earthquake recovery, including Search & Rescue, Basic Needs (food, clothing shelter, medicine) and Medium Term assistance.
